ENDEARING STORY
The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall. Funny, warm, romantic and touching, The Music Man is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation.
YOUNG CAST
The cast of 37 features 14 children, including eight-year-old Modesto resident Roland Carbajal as Winthrop. Carbajal said he recently saw The Music Man for the first time "and I fell in love with it. It is currently my favorite musical. ... I am thankful to be given this opportunity to perform with so many talented people. Singing, dancing and acting is what I love to do."
GREAT MUSIC
The Music Man includes favorite songs "76 Trombones," "My White Knight," "Lida Rose" and more.
SRT's Marian the Librarian, Lauren Roesner believes Music Man is among the greatest works in the musical theater canon. "The music is brilliant and incredibly well-known, the show won five Tony Awards when it premiered on Broadway in 1957, and there have been revivals and television adaptations since then."
